Wards

In ASH, we have different well equipped wards with state-of-the-art facilities. They are thirty-six (36) bedded wards, which provides in-patient services to all clients. They include Maternity ward; Labour ward; Intensive care unit; Neonatal Intensive care unit; Orthopaedic ward; Male Medical Ward; Male Surgical ward; Female Medical Ward; Female Surgical Ward; Emergency (children and adult); Pediatrics Ward; amongst others.

Nursing Care

Asaba specialist Hospital’s wards and units and are managed by capable, qualified and well learned nurses. We render a lot of services. Our care for patient/ clients starts from the moment the patient/client walks into the hospital.

We aim to be friendly and not hostile to them because they (client/patient) are the sole focus of our care.

  • Vital sign/Observation of clients
  • Physical care including bed bath, oral care, total grooming of the clients
  • Psychological care: we recognize that illness is not just about the body but also the mind
  • We have various modern equipment at our disposal to ensure that we achieve/render total nursing care.
  • We offer a reliable and total care in handling and dealing with maternal care (Pregnant women) from ante-natal to the point of delivery of the baby.
  • Most importantly our services are available for 24 hrs and care lines that our clients can call or make suggestions as needed.

Decontamination Services

We are part of the Clinical Support Division and made up of two departments:

*Central Sterile Services Department (CSSD) provides decontamination of surgical instruments and supplies them to all operating theatres, wards and departments at Asaba Specialist Hospital and also to private clinics

*Endoscope Decontamination Unit (EDU) provides decontamination of flexible endoscopes to the hospital and external customers.

We provide a 24/7 on-call service and aim to minimise any risk associated with using instruments and flexible endoscopes. We use an in-house quality management system which ensures our services are safe, efficient and meet all regulatory requirements.

*Ensuring that instruments/endoscopes reprocessed by department are safe to be used on patients

*Responding promptly and effectively to demand of services

*Continually improving the effectiveness of the service and quality of staff performance

*Providing a continuous training for the staff, healthy working environments, equipment, leadership to make sure that service is of a high standards

*Maintaining a Quality Management System that reflects good practice and complies with the Medical Devices Directive
