The Asaba Specialist Hospital (ASH) is a five year old specialist hospital owned by the Delta State Government –

It is a tertiary health facility located in the capital city of Asaba to carter for the health needs of the people of Delta State.

According to the Chief Medical Director (CMD), Dr Mrs Peace Ighosewe, the hospital is a 225 bedded capacity with estimated staff strength of about 800 people.
-Attends to patients with wide range of specialties, from pediatrics to gyneacology to internal medicine, gastroenterology, endocrinology etc. Has a very broad range of specialties that enables it attend to the teaming patients.
Have surgeons across the broad range of specialties including general surgery, orthopedic surgery, neurosurgery, ENT Surgery and plastic surgery
-Has public health department
-Has Dermatologist, histopathologist, anaesthetics, neurology, family physicians who man the Outpatient Unit.
-Aside from consultants, it has other units with well-equipped laboratories, radiology unit with a direct radiogramme and x-machine. Has ECG and Scan machines. .
Has a mammograph machine in the radiology unit.
Has Pathology Department where pathological tests are run.
Has Paediatric Unit
-Has well-equipped Sickle Cell Health Centre – a tertiary health centre that serves as a referral facility for the entire state and beyond. -Conducts newborn screening for genotype of babies born in the hospital. -Offer free healthcare for children bellow ,age 5 and pregnant women
-Has average of about 160 delivery monthly including Cesarean Section and they are free.
-Sees over 300,000 women who come to access ante-natal care.
-Has six functional theatres with well equipped (ICU).
-Has 16 inpatients wards and several out-patients units to attend to the teaming patients.
-Has an oxygene plant as it generates its own oxygen

  • Has a mortuary to keep people who passed on in the cause of their treatment.
    -Sees on the average about 12,000 patients monthly, cutting across all specialties.
  • In-patient admission is about 1,000 monthly.
